Food authorized for consumption (vs. all the stuff they eat anyway)
Taste of the Wild- Official Dog Food of Mulligan and OliverFromm- Alex loved Fromm and we'll prob switch the boys eventually, Oliver needed more protein as a pup though and Mulligan was really undernourished when we got him so for now, we're on Taste of the Wild
I didn't find out how important good dog food is until Alex was 9- I had been feeding him Beneful for years thinking that it was great because it costed more than others and had colors. Colors = nutrition, right? He got really sick, I got reemed by his vet (who was suggesting Science Diet as superior- which is CRAP) but I did some research and now I'm evangelical about the role that proper nutrition pays in a dogs life, here are some great resources:

Dog Food Analysis
Places we buy things from:
Local to where we live:Dog Patch - we get the boys' food here and an occaisional toy. They have awesome staff, an incredible return policy (even on food!) and now offer shelter dogs and cats as well.
If you live in the city (Chicago) definitely visit Soggy Paws. Similar to Dog Patch AND have self-wash stations. I discovered them around the time that I discovered how gross a dog smells after bathing in Lake Michigan. Not, of course, before I also discovered how much it sucks to clean up after a dog in your own bath tub.
Local to Louisville- and on the interwebs:
Barkstown Road - Locally owned and operated in Lousville on Bardstown Road, Kim takes the time to learn her clients and what products would be good for them. She has online AND storefront presence- including a self-wash for the dogs and a patio area for hanging out and hosting doggy parties. Kim is who turned us on to the antlers, which have been the best investment ever.
Awesome Gifts
This was a gift from Aunt Teresa to the boys, she got it at the personalization mall online- lots of great stuff for dog and cat lovers.
