Wall of Fame (All toys die, but some hold out longer)

Tops on the list of things we feel are well worth the money is antlers.  In short, Antlers are Awesome.

Unlike bones, there's nothing to split or be dirty.  Dogs' saliva naturally just erodes them until they are gone (which in our house is when they get small enough to swallow, since that's Mully's favorite way to hide stuff from his brother.)  The photo shows the size in relation to a remote, on the right is about how big it is before it gets tossed.  We bought both on 3/17 at the Barkstown Road opening in Louisville, the one on the right has been passed between dogs since then- they always have at least one in sight and Oliver has one in his crate while I'm gone as well.  Pictured is the medium, about $9.00.

Top Toys:

#1:  Kong with squeaker inside (tied with the Classic Kong)
We bought this in February (2 months ago at post time) from the clearance bin @ Petsmart. This is by far the longest a squeaker has EVER lasted in this house.  Boys both work at it pretty incessantly but since it's inside the Kong, and the Kong is resilient, they can't kill it. This makes us sooooo happy.  It's important to note that we had 2 of them, one medium and one small.  The small one was quickly destroyed because it fit completely in Oliver and Mulligan's mouth so they were able to really dig in. The Classic Kong was purchased for Mulligan in September with the idea of stuffing it to keep him occupied.  He wasn't so into that idea, but Oliver loves it.

2:  Dura Doggie Beba (http://www.duradoggie.com/)
Cost: $15.00
5 of 5 paws!

Rating:

This adorable (and good smelling) toy was purchased at Barkstown Road in October 2011 but only because they have a great guarantee (challenge).  From the site:
If (you or) your dog chews up a Dura Doggie™ product in 15 days or less, we will send you a new, one time replacement, FREE of charge!
We actually didn't even have to use the guarantee!! In fact, we're in our 7th month and the rubber still hasn't been compromised. The squeaker, sadly, was mostly dead within the first few weeks though it did have a pitiful quarter-squeak every once in awhile for the next month. My guess is that a regular dog could have this for a lifetime. We're considering getting the next size up because sometimes things last longer when they are harder to mouth.

Update: 7/1/2012

#2.5: Dura Doggie Beba- LARGE
Cost: $18.99
Rating:

5 of 5 paws!

The only thing better than a regular Beba is our new LARGE Beba, compliments of our friends Ruby and Otto at Barkstown Road.  Dura has updated the large to take off the feet (less to chew off) but otherwise, it's the same supple but durable rubber that we loved in the smaller version.  AND, due to its larger size, the squeaker is lasting longer than before!  We like to put some kibble in the large end (almost a full serving for Oliver) and put it in his crate during the day while we are gone.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE- I am totally loyal to this comany now and can't wait to see what else they come out with.
